Are you organised, friendly, and passionate about making a difference? We're looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Administrative Support Assistant to join our team and support the daily operations of our vibrant charity centre.
You'll work closely with our Centre Manager, keeping the office running smoothly and playing a vital role in supporting our mission. From handling calls and note-taking to helping run our social media and proofreading documents, no two days will be the same
A basic understanding of British Sign Language (BSL) is desirable – you don't need to be fluent, but you should be comfortable with basic communication. Further training will be provided when you start.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the Centre Manager with day-to-day operations
* Answer incoming phone calls and greet visitors
* Organise meetings, take notes, and prepare documentation
* Proofread and format reports and communications
* Assist with managing social media platforms and online presence
* Help maintain an organised, welcoming office environment
* Support general administrative tasks across the charity
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Strong organisational and time-management skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic IT systems
* Comfortable working independently and as part of a small team
* Friendly, approachable, and inclusive attitude
* Attention to detail, particularly when proofreading or writing
Desirable Skills:
* Basic understanding of British Sign Language (BSL) and ability to communicate at a basic level
* Experience working in a charity, community or support organisation
* Knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter)
* Experience taking meeting minutes or supporting board/committee meetings
* Creative flair for writing posts or designing simple content
* Understanding of the D/deaf or hard of hearing community and culture
