Nottingham Trent House (95002), United Kingdom, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire Supplier Manager (HR, Shared Services, FS focus) - Principal Associate
About this role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Capital One’s UK Supplier Management Office (SMO) as a Supplier Manager. The SMO oversees the end-to-end third‑party lifecycle for Capital One in the UK, including sourcing, contracting, and ongoing supplier/vendor and relationship management. You will manage assigned third‑party suppliers and support business stakeholders by overseeing the holistic relationship between Capital One and the suppliers to ensure a stable and effective supply chain.
What you’ll do
* Be the assigned Supplier Relationship Manager for the key relationships you manage and be responsible for all activities to comply with Capital One's Third Party Management Policy at all stages of the Supplier life cycle (Due Diligence/Selection/Contracting/Onboarding/Monitoring/Off‑boarding).
* Work alongside peers within SMO, including other Supplier Relationship Managers, Risk and Governance, and Sourcing functions.
* Act as the primary point of contact for suppliers and internal stakeholders, managing a governance structure for effective communication and interaction.
* Build detailed knowledge of supplier businesses to build credibility and deliver the best service for Capital One, establishing a longer‑term strategic path within your supplier category.
* Work closely with internal business customers to understand issues, continuous improvement suggestions, and new work requirements, then lead or facilitate discussions with suppliers to drive value back into the business.
* Build wider market knowledge and insight for the supplier category you manage, enabling the evolution of relationships and assistance in the development and delivery of category/supplier strategies.
* Be a proficient contract manager—manage suppliers in accordance with contracts, liaise with legal teams to amend, vary, renew and add to contractual arrangements over time, aligning with internal policies and external regulation.
* Ensure business goals are met through strong performance, risk, and relationship oversight of the extended supply chain, ensuring compliance with Capital One’s TPM policy and working closely with internal teams.
* Travel to various Capital One and third‑party sites as the role requires.
What we are looking for

* Excellent communication, relationship building, and stakeholder management skills (Essential).
* Previous experience of risk management as a core component of your role, with an eye for detail to ensure compliance with all corporate and business unit policies (Desirable).
* Contracting experience; close collaboration with COEP Legal to deliver framework agreements, core MSAs, and SOWs across your supplier base (Desirable).
* Ability to build strong internal and external relationships (Essential).
* Team player who focuses on both individual and wider success of the SMO function and Capital One UK business (Essential).
* Enthusiastic and passionate about Supplier Relationship Management, prepared to develop fully rounded end‑to‑end lifecycle specialisms and skills (Desirable).
* Experience in the HR/GA Procurement category (Desirable).
