Key function

The key function of the role is to support NHS Property Services in delivering building services maintenance and repairs across the NHS, to ensure buildings are maintained to the highest standards and to provide a safe and secure environment for visitors, customers, and employees.


Main duties of the job

* Ensure compliance in accordance with all NHSPS Health, Safety & Wellbeing Policies, relevant NHSPS Technical Guidance, Process and Procedures, Statutory Regulations, Approved Codes of Practice and any applicable aspects of HTMs.
* Ensure that new or revised practice and policies are implemented within own work areas.
* Deliver Scheduled, Reactive and Remedial maintenance services as directed by the PPM planner (CAFM), helpdesk or Technical Services Supervisor, ensuring that operational standards are maintained at all times.
* Duties may include (but not limited to) fault‑finding, minor repairs or installations and maintaining services and equipment within critical environments.
* Undertake tasks in disciplines other than own discipline as required.
* Assess problems to determine the best course of action, including complex technical issues, and communicate technical and complex information to various stakeholders.
* Maintain effective site log books at all NHS premises where required, ensuring that they are completed in a timely and accurate manner.


Job responsibilities

* Carrying out electrical maintenance and fault finding across healthcare properties.
* Maintenance, testing and repair of general lighting and electrical services.
* Respond to reactive maintenance requests in a timely manner.
* Undertake general electrical works, including pumps and associated equipment.
* Ensure all works are completed safely and in line with statutory and NHS standards.
* Complete relevant documentation and compliance records accurately.
* Handle routine tasks and social interactions within the work environment, demonstrating the ability to absorb and follow policies and guidance necessary for the role.


Qualifications

* NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Maintenance (essential).
* A maintenance‑focused electrical skill set (installation background considered).
* Electrical maintenance experience (desirable but not essential).
* The ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
* A full UK driving licence (company van provided).


Experience

* Previous experience working within a buildings maintenance environment.
* Experience working within the requirements of method statements or permit to work.
* Experience delivering maintenance services to a specification such as SFG20.


Where You'll Be

* Base location: Milford Hospital.
* Patch: Milford & Guildford area.
* Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm (30‑minute lunch).
* Contract: Permanent, full‑time.
