36 hours per week, Full Time (52 weeks)
Monday to Friday, hours to be negotiated between 07:30 & 17:30
Permanent contract subject to satisfactory 6-month probationary period. Currently we are not accepting CV's from agencies.
We are seeking an enthusiastic IT Technician to be part of our dedicated team, supporting our colleagues and students across all aspects of technology. You will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace ecosystem and a wide range of associated hardware and software.
This position offers an exciting opportunity for someone with one to two years of experience to further develop their skills in a dynamic educational environment.
Initial discussions with Stuart Bennett, IT Manager, as well as visits, are warmly welcomed and can be arranged by contacting the school.
Technical Support
Provide first and second line technical support to staff and students, resolving hardware, software, and network issues in a timely and professional manner.
Support the setup, configuration, and troubleshooting of devices including desktops, laptops, Chromebooks, and tablets.
Assist with maintaining and deploying Windows devices using Microsoft Intune and Autopilot.
Manage user accounts, permissions, and groups within Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and other third-party systems.
Support the use of classroom technology such as projectors, interactive panels and AV equipment.
Monitor and manage print systems, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimal downtime.
Monitor and manage the schools CCTV system, providing footage promptly when requested in accordance with data protection and safeguarding guidelines.
Carry out basic repairs and maintenance of ICT equipment where practical, ensuring faulty devices are restored to service or escalated for repair efficiently.
Systems Administration
Support the maintenance and monitoring of Windows Server environments and Active Directory.
Assist in the administration of the schools wired and wireless network infrastructure.
Help maintain the schools telephony systems (VoIP).
Perform routine checks, backups, and updates to ensure systems are secure and performing effectively.
Ensure systems remain safe and secure through regular monitoring of antivirus and malware detection tools, responding promptly to any identified threats.
Maintain accurate records of assets, support requests, and maintenance activities.
Help maintain and update the schools website.
Development and Projects
Assist in the rollout of new hardware, software, and system upgrades.
Contribute to IT projects that enhance teaching, learning, and operational efficiency.
Support the Senior Network Support Engineer in implementing cybersecurity measures, data protection standards, and best practice compliance.
General
Work collaboratively with colleagues and external suppliers to maintain a high standard of service.
Keep up to date with emerging technologies relevant to education.
Ensure compliance with the schools policies, including safeguarding, GDPR, and health & safety.
Essential Skills and Experience
Proven experience in providing IT support in an educational or comparable environment.
Understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, Wi-Fi).
Desirable Skills and Experience
Strong working knowledge of:
Microsoft 365 (Intune, Autopilot, Entra, Teams, Office)
Google Workspace
Windows 11 deployment and troubleshooting
Networking infrastructure
Print management solutions
Windows Server administration
Virtualisation technologies (Hyper-V)
VoIP telephony systems
Ability to diagnose and resolve a wide range of technical issues effectively.
