On behalf of M&G, AMS are looking for a Commercial Legal Counsel for a 12-month contract based in London. It is a hybrid model. We will consider flexible working arrangements for any of our roles and also offer workplace accommodations to ensure you have what you need to effectively deliver in your role. Purpose of the role: To provide high-quality commercial legal support to M&G by advising on, drafting, and negotiating a wide range of commercial and contractual arrangements across the business. The role supports strategic commercial initiatives by delivering pragmatic legal advice, managing legal risk, and ensuring contracts are structured and executed in line with regulatory and commercial objectives within the financial services environment. What you'll do: Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts including service agreements, procurement contracts, NDAs, technology agreements and outsourcing arrangements. Advise internal stakeholders on legal risks and mitigation strategies related to contractual obligations. Support cross-functional teams including procurement, compliance and operations on contract-related matters. Ensure contracts comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies, particularly those relevant to financial services (e.g., FCA, PRA). Assist with contract lifecycle management and contribute to process improvements. Liaise with external counsel when required and manage legal spend effectively. Provide training and guidance to business teams on contractual best practices and legal awareness. The skills you'll need: Qualified lawyer with experience in private practice or in-house within financial services, with strong academic credentials. Excellent drafting, analytical and organisational skills, with strong attention to detail and sound commercial judgement. Confident communicator able to advise, influence and challenge stakeholders at all levels. Resilient, adaptable and proactive, with a willingness to learn, take ownership and go beyond core responsibilities. Knowledge of PRA and FCA regulatory requirements, particularly relating to material outsourcing.
