Reed Accountancy are currently partnered with a long established client in the Crawley area who are seeking anAccounts Senior to join their existing team. As Accounts Senior you will support the leadershipteam by managing a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring service levels are met efficiently and within budget. This role involves training and developing team members, identifying growth opportunities, and maintaining strong client relationships.
Day to day duties of Accounts Senior will include:
* Undertake accounts preparation assignments, ensuring accuracy and adherence to budgets and deadlines.
* Prepare financial statements and tax computations in line with legislation and reporting standards.
* Maintain client bookkeeping records and process VAT returns using software like Xero, Sage, and QuickBooks.
* Ensure the accuracy of business transaction records and enter draft financial information into accounting and audit software.
* Provide taxation information to the tax team and prepare self-assessment returns for review.
* Handle administrative duties, including client setup and billing.
* Schedule client work efficiently, delegate tasks appropriately, and ensure completion to the firm’s standards.
* Maintain client relationships, identify opportunities for advisory work, and meet WIP and chargeable hours targets.
* Ensure compliance with statutory deadlines and provide training and development to team members.
* Build new contacts, attend networking events, and participate in pitches for potential new clients.
* Manage correspondence with clients, HMRC, and third parties.
* Keep the office work plan updated and communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth workflow.
* Develop knowledge of the firm’s computer systems, primarily the CCH suite, and client systems as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Proven experience in accounts management and client service within a similar environment.
* Strong technical knowledge of financial reporting standards and relevant legislation.
* Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, Sage, and QuickBooks.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and delegate tasks.
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
* Commitment to continuous professional development (CPD) and training.
* Ability to identify business development opportunities and contribute to the growth of the firm.
