We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Finance Manager/Accountant to join our clients growing business. This is a key role within the company, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations and ensuring accurate financial reporting, payroll management, and supplier payments.
The successful candidate will be hands-on, commercially aware, and confident managing multiple accounting functions while supporting the wider management team with timely financial information.
Key Responsibilities
1. Preparation of monthly management accounts
2. Producing financial forecasts, budgets, and cash flow projections
3. Monitoring financial performance and reporting to senior management
4. Overseeing the Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger departments
5. Managing supplier payments and maintaining strong supplier relationships
6. Ensuring accurate reconciliation of bank accounts and ledgers
7. Full responsibility for payroll processing and control
8. Managing BACS payments to employees and suppliers
9. Handling payroll-related matters including:
10. PAYE and National Insurance
11. Pension contributions
12. Deduction of Earnings Orders
13. Statutory payments and compliance
14. Liaising with external accountants, auditors, and HMRC where required
15. Maintaining financial controls and ensuring compliance with company procedures
Candidate Requirements
16. Proven experience in a similar Senior Finance role
17. Strong knowledge of management accounting and forecasting
18. Experience overseeing purchase and sales ledger functions
19. Confident managing payroll processes end-to-end
20. Knowledge of BACS payment systems and payroll compliance
21. Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
22. Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
23. Proficient in accounting and payroll software
24. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable
25. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification
26. Experience within an SME environment
27. Knowledge of employment and payroll legislation
