Position: CDE Technician (Laboratory Analyst).
Contract Type: Full-time.
Salary: Based on Experience.

About the Role
As a CDE technician you will play a crucial part in supporting the core business operations of CDE. All training required to undertake this role will be provided to the successful candidate. The day‑to‑day activities will be based within the CDE materials laboratory, checking samples in and out, conducting routine tests, equipment maintenance, setting up bespoke experiments, and recording and reporting all test results. Your work supports laboratory efficiency, washing plant design optimisation and the specification of equipment for sales and completed projects. The role requires a practical, detail‑oriented, and highly motivated individual interested in a blend of hands‑on and hands‑off work.
Responsibilities
* Organise and schedule the testing of samples submitted for testing.
* Sample and test aggregate materials.
* Process test materials to allow washing plant design to be optimised.
* Record all data linked to the testing activities.
* Report all results in the provided professional format in keeping with CDE document procedures.
* Maintain good systems of work for the laboratory function.
* Update relevant quality checklists and report any non‑conformances.
* Maintain and record calibration of laboratory equipment.
* Adhere to all CDE lab policies and procedures and suggest constructive improvement ideas.
* Operate pilot‑scale wash plant and provide improvement ideas and solutions for increasing efficiency.
* Maintain lab facilities and equipment to a high standard ensuring a highly professional environment is maintained.
* Adhere to CDE’s HR and H&S policies.

Required Criteria
* 5 GCSEs including Maths/English or equivalent.
* Good knowledge of mechanical equipment and maintenance.
* Microsoft Office knowledge: Excel, Outlook, Word.
* Strong organisational skills, high attention to detail.
* Proactive nature.
* Team orientation and a collaborative working style.
* Good interpersonal skills.
* The ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
* Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.
* Able to work under pressure.
* Clearance to work in the UK.
Desired Criteria
* Relevant technician experience.
* Higher level qualification.
* Prior knowledge of accreditation processes.
* Prior knowledge of general lab equipment.
* Good customer facing skills.
* Dependable and reliable.
* Enthusiastic, energetic self‑starter able to work on own initiative.
