The opportunity: We are looking for a Paralegal to join our highly-regarded Intellectual Property team at Baker McKenzie, Belfast. The successful applicant will support the Firm's Intellectual Property practice, handling IP prosecution, maintenance, and transactional work in a deadline-driven environment. You will work on rapidly developing IP portfolios of global clients, requiring a global mindset and effective coordination with international teams. The role involves working with various professionals across cultures and driving matters forward with local counsel and clients. You will provide key support to senior professionals, ensuring high-quality work that they can rely on.

Main responsibilities include:
1. Handling formalities related to trademarks, including registration, prosecution, renewal, and post-registration steps.
2. Preparing client reports independently.
3. Supporting global IP M&A activities, such as recording assignments, licenses, and changes at registries, liaising with local counsel, and drafting legal documents.
4. Conducting IP asset due diligence using official registries and databases.
5. Supporting anti-counterfeiting programs, including drafting guides, seizure notifications, and liaising with infringers.
6. Performing trademark searches and drafting reports.
7. Developing legal knowledge to support lawyers and clients effectively.
8. Following firm procedures and maintaining service standards.
9. Managing docket and deadlines, proactively communicating if issues arise.
Essential criteria:
* Relevant undergraduate degree with 2.1 or above.
* Legal background with IP/trademark experience preferred.
* Authorization to work in the UK.
Desirable criteria:
* CITMA qualification an advantage.
Skills include high attention to detail, proactive attitude, ability to work independently and under pressure, clear communication, teamwork, and adaptability.
