Job Title: Environmental Projects Coordinator Location: Hendon, Sunderland Salary: £28,000 £32,000 (dependent on experience & qualifications) Hours: 30 hours per week Annual Leave: 28 days plus Bank Holidays Responsible to: Head of Operations Responsible for: Street Ranger and associated programme volunteers Accountabilities The Environmental Projects Coordinator will lead the planning, delivery, and monitoring of environmental initiatives across Hendon and the wider community. This includes programmes such as high street regeneration, nature corridors, urban gardening, community allotments, and local park projects. The role is responsible for ensuring services are delivered efficiently, on time, and to budget, while maintaining the organisations values and mission. You will also be accountable for capturing social impact, building partnerships with stakeholders, and ensuring continuous improvement, quality, and compliance. Responsibilities Service Delivery Plan, coordinate, deliver, and monitor all environmental programmes. Oversee funded projects, ensuring delivery against deadlines and targets. Lead the development of community green initiatives, including: A local nature corridor and high street greening. A community growing garden. Starter allotment beds at Barley Mow Park, offering education and support. Facilitate the Park Partnership to bring footfall, activity, and events to Barley Mow Park and other local green spaces. Engage local families and residents to connect with nature and access community environmental programmes. Support volunteer management, including groups such as urban gardeners, East Rangers, and event volunteers. Collaborate with corporate, statutory, and voluntary sector partners to deliver community objectives. Manage programme budgets, including income and expenditure. Support wider community services as needed. Collect and report on beneficiary feedback and social impact. Fundraising Support senior management with funder relationships and retention. Contribute to the development of fundraising strategies. Assist with funding applications and reporting. Communications & Marketing Work with communications staff to promote environmental programmes, highlight good news, and share event updates. Education & Qualifications Educated to degree level or with relevant professional qualifications, or equivalent demonstrable experience. Project management qualification (desirable). Knowledge & Experience Project management experience. Understanding of budget management. Awareness of policies and procedures relevant to community and environmental projects. Skills Proven ability to plan and deliver environmental events and activities. Effective communication skills across diverse audiences. Strong IT and systems competence.
