We are seeking an Applied Psychologist (Clinical, Counselling, or Forensic) to join the Forensic Personality Disorder Service (FPDS). FPDS is an experienced multidisciplinary team working with individuals diagnosed with personality disorder who present a high risk of harm to others.
The primary aim of FPDS is to reduce the Length of Stay for secure care patients with a primary or significant co‑morbid diagnosis of personality disorder. The service strengthens integration between secure inpatient settings and community personality disorder services by contributing directly to ward teams to support this patient group.
FPDS undertakes gatekeeping assessments for individuals with a diagnosis of personality disorder referred for secure inpatient admission. The team monitors transitions between levels of security and oversees patients placed outside their home area. It provides specialist clinical advice and recommendations on the most appropriate care pathways and sequencing of treatment for each individual.
This role is suited to candidates with substantial interest and experience in working with personality disorder, alongside a strong commitment to practice within secure forensic settings., You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team who provide psychologically informed support to people with complex needs who have a diagnosis of personality disorder.The role will also involve providing clinical leadership for the service.
This role involves working both directly with service users but also indirectly supporting the staff team around the person. You will be able to apply your knowledge and experience of mental health and forensic settings across assessment, formulation, and intervention to help support service users through their care pathway. The role involves providing systemic support to teams including provision of consultation, reflective practice, supervision, teaching and training.
You will be provided with opportunities for additional training, joint working and receiving supervision, as well as peer professional spaces.

We are looking for someone with good leadership and organisational skills.You will work well autonomously and as part of a team.The role involves good communication, so we expect that you have excellent verbal and written skills.
The post holder will work closely with colleagues in the wider Community Forensic Services within Devons Secure Services Directorate.
The post includes visiting a number of sites and services within the region and nationally and a certain amount of travel is involved.
