School of Medicine – Teaching Fellow in Human Factors (MBChB). Human Factors is a key part of teaching within the MBChB programme, recognised by the GMC as a core topic. The role supports redesigning the curriculum to move much of the teaching into later years, including small groups and simulation, and clinical placements. The post is full time, funded by NHS ACT, with a fixed term of one year. It aims to provide a trainee with an interest in education the opportunity to develop as a medical educator over twelve months.
Responsibilities
* Assisting with review of current human factors content and design of new curriculum
* Collaborating with the Human Factors Scientist to add clinical context and content where needed
* Designing, developing and piloting new teaching sessions (some of which may be simulation focused)
* Reviewing current methods of assessment for human factors and designing new assessments for this content
* Developing a plan for evaluation of any new teaching and disseminating findings potentially at national meetings
* Participating in the preparation and organisation of the undergraduate core teaching and assessment programme
* Delivering face-to-face teaching including lectures, small group tutorials and clinical teaching in different health care contexts
Qualifications and profile
* Speciality Registrar (ST3+) with a national training number in any medical specialty
