Behaviour Support Mentor

Location: Swansea
Sector: Education (within a school setting)
Agency: Teaching Personnel (Preferred Agency)

Teaching Personnel are seeking a Behaviour Support Mentor. This role is education-focused only and does not involve residential care duties.

The Role

As a Behaviour Support Mentor, you will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils throughout the school day. The role involves a mix of:

  • 1:1 support for pupils requiring targeted behavioural intervention
  • General Teaching Assistant support within small class groups
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, engagement, and positive behaviour
  • Helping to create a safe, calm, and supportive learning environment
  • Implementing behaviour support strategies consistently and professionally

You will work with mixed age groups, adapting your approach to meet individual needs.

Training & Support

  • Full behaviour management training provided
  • Safeguarding training provided
  • Ongoing support from Teaching Personnel and on-site education staff

Desired Experience

We welcome applicants with experience in any of the following areas:

  • Behaviour support, mentoring, or youth work
  • SEN, SEMH, or additional learning needs
  • Secure units, pupil referral units (PRUs), alternative provision, or specialist education settings
  • Education, care, mental health, or criminal justice environments
  • Teaching Assistant or classroom support roles

A calm, resilient, and consistent approach is essential. Experience managing challenging behaviour is highly desirable, though full training will be given.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
