Job Summary
Reporting to the SARC Manager, the SARC Patient Crisis Worker (SPCW) will coordinate various aspects of SARC activities, including providing support for the Forensic Examination Service at the Sexual Assault Referral Centre. The role requires training to manage patient care pathways and day‑to‑day service delivery.
Responsibilities
* Provide telephone information and support to patients and families.
* Manage administration and coordination of visits by adults, children, and families.
* Assist patients through the examination process, including use of the colposcope.
* Deliver advocacy support, ensuring a compassionate, patient‑centered approach.
* Recruit, train, and support zero‑hour SPCWs.
* Support outreach programs and assist in achieving UKAS accreditation.
* Implement and support ISO 15189 and the FSR Code of Practice.
* Conduct training and competency assessment for new SPCWs.
* Book forensic consumables, manage inventory, and ensure acceptance testing.
* Assist with DNA environmental monitoring and audit anti‑contamination processes.
* Understand contamination risks associated with activities.
* Conduct follow‑up calls, regular check‑ins, and coordinate onward referrals as part of a six‑week case‑management program.
Qualifications
* Good IT skills.
* Experience working in a supportive or customer‑focused environment.
* Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality.
* Experience completing administrative duties.

* UK driving licence and vehicle access for travel across SARC locations.
* Advanced DBS and Level 2 Police vetting required.

Employment Details
Contract: Permanent, Part‑time (Zero‑Hour bank). Shift pattern: 24/7, 365 days per year. Shift hours: 8 pm‑8 am Monday‑Friday; 8 pm‑9 am Friday‑Saturday; 9 am‑5 pm Saturday/Sunday; 5 pm‑1 am Saturday/Sunday; 1 am‑9 am Saturday‑Sunday; 1 am‑9 am Sunday‑Monday.
Location: Sussex SARC and additional South East locations.
Salary: £35.21 to £49.66 per session (retainer rates, day and shift dependent). Attendance payment £48.03; hourly rate £16.01 (over 3 hours).
