South Central Fleet Services Ltd is looking for Fleet Engineers to join our team at our workshop facility in Didcot, maintaining vehicles for South Central Ambulance Service.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team ensuring ambulances are available to support patients. The workshop operates 7 days a week with shifts on a rotation basis.
Our fleet engineers play a vital role in supporting ambulance services by maintaining and repairing specialist vehicles and equipment to high standards, ensuring maximum vehicle availability. The role involves working on a diverse range of vehicles and ancillary equipment such as tail-lifts, stretchers, air lines, and advanced electronic components.
Main duties of the job
* Perform maintenance and repairs on ambulances and other vehicles as specified by SCFS Ltd, adhering to required standards.
* Attend breakdown scenes for repairs when needed, following safety guidelines.
* Prepare new vehicles for service and old vehicles for disposal.
* Maintain records related to vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair.
* Follow health and safety protocols, reporting hazards or accidents immediately.
* Adhere to security procedures.
* Attend training courses related to vehicle and equipment maintenance.
* Make repair decisions in the absence of the Fleet Supervisor.
* Participate in Duty Mechanic standby rota.
* Engage in income-generating activities relevant to fleet maintenance.

Person specification
Qualifications
* City and Guilds Motor Vehicle Craft studies parts 1, 2 & 3, or Motor Vehicle Technicians qualification, or BTEC equivalents.
* Full Driving Licence
Knowledge
* Relevant workshop experience involving all aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair
Skills
* Organized and methodical
* Ability to work on own initiative
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
