Overview
Junior Electrical Design Engineer - Water Industry. We are recruiting a Junior Electrical and ICA Design Engineer to join our Water Consultancy team operating across the UK. You’ll work on AMP8 and AMP9 projects, delivering electrical and ICA design solutions for water and wastewater systems.
Responsibilities
* Balance your workload across a wide variety of projects from major long-term frameworks with water companies and contractors across the UK.
* Coordinate with clients to understand their needs, interpret data, and work to project plans within multidisciplinary teams to ensure the project goals are met.
* Produce technical outputs such as technical specifications, schedules, reports, load and instrument lists, cable sizing calculations, single line diagrams and system architecture layouts; contribute to collaborative planning reviews and design solutions.
* Provide engineering inputs and design outputs in collaboration with other disciplines, producing general arrangement drawings, 3D models, 2D plans and sections, and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
* Contribute to design discussions including technical workshops and safety reviews (HAZOPs and ALMs) and ensure compliance with CDM duties of the Designer through design risk assessments.
* Prepare electrical and ICA design deliverables including calculations, reports, specifications, datasheets, drawings, schedules, and procurement documentation.
* Ensure quality assurance procedures are followed and high standards are maintained.
Skills, Knowledge, And Experience
* A good technical understanding of electrical engineering and ICA principles.
* Water industry experience.
* Experience in: load assessment and LV/MV distribution design; using P&IDs to create equipment schedules; ICA and SCADA system architecture development; production of URSs, FDSs and control philosophies; producing specifications, reports and technical documentation.
* Complying with CDM Regulations and designing for safety; ability to manage work to time, cost, and quality; willingness to travel to operational and construction sites as required.
* Knowledge of design tools such as AutoCAD or similar; experience is advantageous but not essential.
Qualifications
* A degree-level qualification in electrical engineering or a closely allied subject, ideally IET-accredited.
