We are looking for a Deputy Nursery Manager and Room Leader to join our welcoming team at Peterborough College. This is a hands-on role where youll lead a room, support your colleagues, and play a key part in the day-to-day running of the nursery. The Deputy Nursery Manager role is covering Maternity leave so will be offred on a full time fixed term contract.
This isnt a role where youre stuck behind a desk. Youll be right in the heart of the action, creating a nurturing, inspiring environment for children aged 05, while developing your leadership skills and stepping up to support the overall management of the nursery when needed.
What the role involves
As a Deputy Nursery Manager, youll plan and deliver engaging activities that support childrens development and spark their curiosity, ensuring everything aligns with EYFS standards. Youll guide and support your team day to day, helping them grow in confidence through coaching and regular check-ins.
Youll build strong relationships with parents, becoming a trusted point of contact, and work closely with colleagues, external professionals, and local authorities to support each childs needs. Alongside this, youll play an important role in the smooth running of the nursery, supporting areas such as safeguarding, resources, and general organisation.
What youll bring as a Deputy Nursery Manager
* A Level 3 childcare qualification (Level 5 is a bonus)
* Strong experience working with children aged 05
* A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to stay calm under pressure
* A genuine passion for Early Years and child development
* Good knowledge of safeguarding and EYFS
* Confidence to lead a team with kindness, clarity and consistency
