Position: Assistant Buyer

Location: Old Oak Common (Hybrid available)

Salary: £32,000

Type: Temporary to Permanent (6 – 12 months)

Our Client

Join a specialist Tier 1 Infrastructure Contractor delivering major rail projects across the UK. With a multibillion-pound order book, this is your chance to be part of a company transforming the rail industry.

Offering an environment where professional growth is actively supported, you will have the opportunity to advance your career within the stability of long-term frameworks. This includes gaining professional certifications, developing new skills, and mentoring junior team members, allowing you to grow both personally and professionally.

The Role?

We’re proud to be partnering with our client to recruit an Assistant Buyer for their growing procurement team. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to develop their career within a supportive and progressive business.

In this role, you’ll work closely with the Procurement Manager, gaining hands-on experience and professional mentorship. It’s a varied position with exposure to multiple departments including Project Management, Legal, and Commercial, offering valuable insight into the wider business operations.

Day to day, you’ll support sub-contractor management, tender processes, and contract administration, playing a key part in project delivery.

Our client is committed to investing in their people, offering CIPS professional training up to Level 4 and beyond, with a clear pathway to develop into a Buyer role and progress further within the business.

Your Experience

The ideal candidate will bring some previous experience within a procurement or purchasing environment, be comfortable using Excel, and possess a good understanding of procurement terminology and processes.

Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, team-oriented approach are essential, along with the ability to build positive relationships both internally and externally.

If you’re an Assistant Buyer looking to take the next step, or an existing Buyer seeking a new challenge with more scope and career development, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
