This role is a new opportunity for a community-focused individual who is passionate about ensuring that people are supported and empowered. You will support people to access community-based events, services, and projects that improve their health and well-being.
The coordinator will be responsible for the daily operation of the Wellbeing Hub, bringing services to the site to increase service options/choices for residents in the North West Ipswich area, and effectively promoting and supporting a program of activities.
This project is focused on combating loneliness and isolation, health inequalities and empowering communities to support their own independence and improve their lives.
The successful applicant will be recruited by Emmaus Suffolk with the project being delivered for an initial 12 months fixed term contract.
Job Responsibilities include:
* Co-ordinator & key holder of the Unity Centre Wellbeing Hub
* Building relationships with existing community groups and activities in the North East Ipswich area
* Liaising with the Emmaus Suffolk Wellbeing Team & Community Connect team for onward support and referrals.
* Create a program of activities, events and outreach support for the North East Ipswich area
* Produce a community asset map of activity in the North East Ipswich area
* Support existing community groups by the sharing of information, support, advice, tools and experience
* Working with the community to identify gaps of provision in community groups & support
* Co-ordinate volunteer support for the Wellbeing Hub
* Preparing bar food for customers.
* Handling money, cleaning and maintaining site .
* Ensuring adherence to kitchen hygiene regulations and maintaining the highest standards of kitchen hygiene cleanliness.
* Maintenance of food safety when storing, preparing and cooking food.
Knowledge/Experience required:
* Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
* Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
* Excellent organisation and planning skills
* Self-motivation and initiative skills
* Effective verbal and written communication skills, with colleagues, professionals and members of the public
* Good knowledge of the North East Ipswich area, demographics, geography, and local assets
* Proficient in using data recording systems and Microsoft based applications including Powerpoint, Outlook, Word & Excel
* Understanding of GDPR and Safeguarding with vulnerable adults practices and guidelines
* Experience/understanding of community engagement techniques, personalised care and health coaching approaches
* An understanding of the needs of vulnerable people in society
* A full, current UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential for this role.
* Staff mileage and business expenses to be paid at the HMRC rate. It will be the
* responsibility of the post holder to take out business use insurance for their vehicle.
* The successful candidate will need to enjoy working with people, be community-focused, have a “can do” flexible attitude and show commitment, resilience and empathy.
* Appointment to this role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

General:
Emmaus works with vulnerable people. Staff and volunteers must observe the proper demarcation and professional boundaries while performing their role .
The Support Worker must always act in a way which will maintain the good reputation of Emmaus Ipswich, upholding the policies and procedures of Emmaus. The Support Worker will strive to preserve good working relationships with staff, volunteers, companions and the trustees, keeping the appropriate key personnel well informed of significant matters relating to the Community
We expect you to carry out your job responsibilities in an environmentally aware manner. Our aim is to ensure all resources are utilised effectively and efficiently. You will be expected to apply sound ‘value for money’ principles in undertaking purchasing or supply of goods and services.
In Emmaus, volunteers are an important resource and make a vital contribution to Emmaus’s aim to take action to help disadvantaged people. You will be expected to encourage, develop and support volunteer involvement in our work.
Shift patterns are flexible and determined by the requirements of the community and social enterprise. The rota will typically be available two weeks in advance.
