We are seeking two motivated and organised Purchasers to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business in Dorset. This is a key role within their busy operations team, ensuring that materials, components, and services are sourced cost-effectively, delivered on time, and aligned with our quality standards. These are full-time permanent positions.
37 hours per week - option for 4 day week!
Key Responsibilities
* Negotiate competitive pricing and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings.
* Liaise with colleagues to provide updates on purchasing status and resolve supply issues.
* Source and evaluate quotes as required.
* Identify alternative suppliers for long-lead or out-of-stock items.
* Monitor and progress orders to meet delivery deadlines, following up on late shipments.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
* Suggest and implement process improvements as part of the companys Continuous Improvement programme.
* Provide support and cover for other members of the Purchasing team when needed.
* Carry out general administrative tasks and ad hoc duties as required.
About You
* Proficient in Excel with the ability to confidently navigate and manage spreadsheets.
* Skilled in using Microsoft Office applications.
* Experience in a busy office environment, ideally within light manufacturing.
* Previous purchasing experience is advantageous but not essential.
* Able to meet all requirements for BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance.
