We’re looking for a Payroll & HR Team Leader to help us deliver accurate, compliant and people-focused support across the Hendy Group. In this role, you’ll make sure colleagues are paid correctly and on time, systems are kept clean and compliant, and that our Payroll & HR service remains efficient, proactive and trusted.
The Opportunity
As our Payroll & HR Team Leader, you’ll be the go-to expert for people and payroll processes. You’ll lead on ensuring everything we do meets legislative standards, audit requirements and business needs while driving improvements and keeping an eye on what’s coming next.
You’ll oversee day-to-day people and payroll activity, support managers with key employment processes, and play an active role in enhancing our people operations across the Group.
Responsibilities
* Overseeing accurate and timely People and Payroll admin in our HR and Payroll system.
* Managing starters, movers and leavers, including issuing contracts and HR documentation.
* Ensuring all HMRC tasks (RTI, PAYE and submissions) are completed correctly and on time.
* Managing pensions, auto-enrolment, reconciliation and pay overs.
* Overseeing Benefits-in-Kind (BIK) processes and Class 1A year-end tasks.
* Completing year-end activities such as P60s, P11Ds and payroll statements.
* Managing intercompany invoices, reconciliations and journals.
* Preparing audit requirements and ensuring full compliance.
* Reviewing processes and updating policies where needed.
* Supporting people-related projects across the Group.
* Producing accurate people data and reports, using Excel confidently.
* Supporting the People Business Partnering team with employment matters.
* Ensuring full compliance with employment law, right-to-work and pay legislation.
* Managing absence processes and working with third parties to meet payroll deadlines.
* Supporting the People Hub Manager and the Reward & Pay Manager with new and ongoing projects.

About You
You’re organised, accurate and calm under pressure, with a real passion for delivering great service. You will have:
* Strong attention to detail and confidence handling high-volume tasks;
* Excellent organisational and time-management skills;
* Solid Outlook, Excel and Microsoft Office skills;
* Ability to analyse data quickly and effectively;
* A collaborative, team-focused approach;
* Previous experience in HR or Payroll, ideally in a fast-paced or matrix setting;
* Understanding of employment legislation and people processes;
