The current base is Kettering Distribution Centre, Henson Way, Kettering NN16 8PX. The role will transition to Kettering Symmetry Park, NN1 4 1FQ, once the new site is operational.
Occasional travel to other sites may be necessary, so flexibility to travel is essential.
What you'll do
Reporting to the Manchester QA Manager, you will act as the primary technical contact at the site. Your responsibilities include:
1. Lead and maintain food safety and quality systems across logistics operations.
2. Serve as the site lead for BRCGS Storage and Distribution audits and EHO inspections.
3. Maintain and chair HACCP and food safety meetings.
4. Carry out validation work and trend analysis to support HACCP plans.
5. Ensure allergen management and traceability compliance.
6. Assist with implementing food safety procedures for daily operations.
7. Manage microbiological, chemical, and raw material testing.
8. Evaluate raw materials for adherence to specifications.
9. Conduct customer experience and product quality assessments.
10. Produce monthly supplier performance reports and communicate findings to supplier technologists.
11. Manage and conduct internal audits (GMP, hygiene, traceability, etc.).
12. Support non-conforming product management and complaint investigations.
13. Monitor hygiene, pest control, and equipment calibration.
14. Support product withdrawals and recalls.
15. Provide technical support to operational teams.
16. Collaborate with technical teams and communicate key food safety and quality metrics.
17. Assist with continuous improvement and food safety culture initiatives.
About you
We seek driven individuals with:
* Food safety/food science related HNC/HND (or equivalent)
* HACCP Level 3, Food Safety Level 4, and Internal Audit Qualification
* Minimum 2 years food handling experience
* Results-oriented approach with excellent communication and influencing skills
* Leadership, decision-making, and report writing experience
* Practical knowledge of BRCGS Storage and Distribution Standard, QMS Systems, and experience leading third-party audits
* Experience in investigations and internal audits with strong attention to detail
* Proactive, problem-solving mindset
* High proficiency in numerical, verbal, and written communication
* Proficient in Microsoft 365 tools
* Ability to multitask and work calmly under pressure
