Multi - Skilled Maintenance Technician Location: Newton-Aycliffe Hours: 39 hours/week Pay Rate: £22.84 Contract: 6 months 3 - Shift Pattern: Monday - Thursday: 6am-12pm / 2pm-10pm / 10pm-6am Friday: 6am-12pm / 12pm-6pm / 6pm-MidnightAbout the Role: We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our 3-shift production team at 3M Aycliffe. This is a hands-on role ensuring our equipment and facilities operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. You will play a key role in minimizing downtime, maintaining equipment performance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and automated systems. Respond promptly to machine breakdowns to restore production quickly. Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and technical issues efficiently. Support installation, testing, and commissioning of new equipment. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and safety checks. Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify improvements in equipment performance and reliability. Adhere strictly to safety and operational standards, contributing to a safe working environment. Assist in maintaining spare parts inventory and tool organization.Skills & Experience Required: Proven experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical or electrical repair. Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical systems, electrical circuits, motors, sensors, and PLCs. Familiarity with preventive maintenance schedules and procedures. Knowledge of health & safety standards in a production environment. Ability to work effectively in a 3-shift rotation in a fast-paced environment. Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.Preferred Background: Experience attending machine breakdowns and carrying out planned maintenance in a production or manufacturing environment. Understanding of control systems, automation, and PLC programming basics.Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or ONC.
