Network Engineer | Corsham, fully onsite | £400 - £500 a day outside IR35 | SC-Cleared

We are currently looking for an SC-Clear Network Engineer to join our team, delivering the maintenance, support, and optimisation of network infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on firewall management, routing, and Azure networking components.
Please note that this is a fully on-site position. Our Consultant must have active and valid SC Clearance.
Main responsibilities:
* Maintain and support enterprise grade Palo Alto firewalls including rule base management, NAT policies, security filters and troubleshooting.
* Monitor and manage routing across hybrid environments (on-prem and Azure), ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
* Configure and maintain Azure networking components, including: Traffic Manager, VNET’s (incl VNET peerings), subnets, Azure Load Balancers (Public, Internal, Global, Regional), Network Security Groups (NSGs), Routing tables and User Defined Routes (UDRs), Public IPs, Private Endpoints, and VM scale sets, VNET Gateways and ExpressRoute
* Perform in-depth network troubleshooting to resolve incidents and problems, using diagnostic tools and packet analysis where needed.
* Collaborate with architecture teams on the design and improvement of network solutions across projects.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
* Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with enterprise firewalls, particularly Palo Alto.
* Solid understanding of core networking concepts (BGP, OSPF, IP subnetting, VLANs, VPNs, NAT, DNS, DHCP).
* Proven experience supporting and managing Azure networking services in production environments.
* Familiarity with hybrid cloud network topologies and secure connectivity models (e.g., ExpressRoute, VPN Gateway).
* Experience with infrastructure-as-code or automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Azure CLI, PowerShell)
* Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, especially in diagnosing complex network issues.
* Ability to communicate clearly and work well under pressure in operational environments.
* Knowledge of and experience with NSX firewalls, AVI load balancers & Aruba switches are desirable
* Knowledge of and experience with Windows or Linux servers are desirable
