Job overview

The postholder will provide a qualified clinical psychology service to inpatients admitted to the Robertson Neurorehabilitation Unit at Willesden Junction, including specialist assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes. The postholder will provide specialist psychological assessment and therapy in the context of a multidisciplinary neurorehabilitation team. The postholder will offer advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.

The postholder will contribute to enabling other staff, service users and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish by working to create a psychologically safe environment.

The postholder will utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the areas served by the team/service.

The postholder will work as an autonomous professional within BPS and HCPC guidelines and codes of conduct, and guided by the policies and procedures of the service, taking responsibility for own work including treatment and discharge decisions with support of clinical supervisor.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job include but are not limited to (see full Job Description):

1. Provision of specialist clinical assessment, formulation and interventions for people undergoing neurorehabilitation.
2. To provide biopsychosocial formulations to inform the care plan
3. To administer, score and interpret specialist neuropsychosocial testing, and to use this assessment to support the MDT intervention for rehab and discharge planning
4. Toexerciseautonomousprofessional responsibilityfortheassessment,treatmentand discharge of clients whose problems aremanaged by psychologically based standard care plans
5. To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management according to Trust Policy
6. Toprovideprofessionalandclinicalsupervisionofassistant/graduatepsychologistsand, as appropriate, to contribute to the supervision of individual cases for trainee clinical psychologists.
7. To provide regularteaching/training to other professions as appropriate.
8. To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing, according to professional and Trust guidelines, including electronic data entry.
9. Toutilisetheory,evidence-basedliteratureandresearchtosupportevidence-based practice in individual work and work with other team members.

Working for our organisation

We are looking to recruit an experienced Clinical Psychologist to work in the Inpatient NeurorehabilitationPsychology service. This person will be joining a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team, including an Assistant Psychologist, who they will provide clinical and management supervision for. The team sits within a diverse and supportive Clinical Health Psychology service. The postholder will provide specialist clinical input, supervision, management and leadership to the MDT to promote a psychologically informed environment for patients and staff. The post also includes responsibility for service developments to optimise the care of patients, families and carers. The role would suit someone currently wishing to develop their leadership skills.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This post will largely be based on site with an option to consider hybrid working for one day per week. The postholder will manage an independent caseload. The postholder will have access to peer support with other B8a psychologists in the Clinical Health Psychology service.
