Plumber HMP Kirkham – Freckleton Road, Kirkham, Preston, PR4 2RN Permanent | 39 hours per week We’re recruiting a qualified Plumber to join our Facilities Management team at HMP Kirkham, an open prison near Preston. This is a stable, long‑term role on a secure Ministry of Justice contract. Working hours 39 hours per week Monday–Thursday: 08:00 – 17:00 Friday–Sunday: 08:00 – 16:00 1 in 3 weekends on a rota basis 15% weekend allowance on basic salary Why work at HMP Kirkham? You’ll be part of a supportive on‑site team, with: Free on‑site parking Access to an on‑site gym Catering facilities Consistent hours and predictable shifts Long‑term job security on a stable contract What you’ll be doing Routine and reactive plumbing maintenance Mains water supply repairs Fault finding and repairs on life‑expired equipment Inspections, water sampling and basic risk assessments Making good following repairs What we’re looking for NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing & Heating is essential Experience working in a commercial environment Full UK driving licence Experience using light plant equipment Legionella Control (L8) – desirable If you meet most of the criteria but not all, we still encourage you to apply – training and development can be provided.
