Main Purpose of Job
To proactively ensure exceptional, memorable customer service standards, actively engaging with the team, the on‑site brewery, and guests to deliver an outstanding beer‑led experience. The Pub Manager will champion a genuine passion for beer, curating and promoting beer‑focused events, and working closely with the brewery team to showcase products, educate customers, and create a destination venue.
Manage the budget and profitability in line with company procedures by controlling costs and increasing revenue. Promote a culture of helpfulness throughout the team, with customers and the adjoining brewery, encouraging retention and return visits while adhering to regulatory standards.
Main Responsibilities
* Oversee all aspects of pub operations, including staff management, customer service, inventory control, and financial performance.
* Develop and implement strategies to drive sales, enhance customer satisfaction, and actively promote the brewery’s beers and brand.
* Work closely with the brewery team to ensure strong alignment between brewing operations and the pub offering, including product launches and seasonal releases.
* Recruit, train, and supervise staff members, fostering a positive and productive work environment with a strong focus on beer knowledge and service standards.
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety throughout the pub.
* Manage inventory levels, with particular attention to beer quality, cellar management, and stock rotation.
* Monitor and analyse sales data, identify trends, and adjust operations accordingly to meet targets.
General Responsibilities
* Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints promptly and professionally.
* Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate favourable terms.
* Plan and deliver engaging beer‑focused events such as tap takeovers, meet‑the‑brewer sessions, tastings, and brewery tours to drive footfall and revenue.
* Demonstrate a genuine interest in beer, staying informed about styles, trends, and industry developments, and sharing this knowledge with both staff and customers.
* Stay informed about wider industry trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes.
Additional Duties
* Coordinate closely with the brewery team to ensure seamless integration between brewing and pub operations, creating a unique and cohesive customer experience.
* Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to develop and promote beer‑led initiatives and events.
* Act as an ambassador for the pub and brewery at community events, festivals, and industry gatherings.
* Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate updates, build beer knowledge, address concerns, and foster teamwork.
* Undertake any other reasonable management request.
* Attend staff meetings when required.
* Work flexibly to support the needs of the business.
Legal Duties
* Comply fully with all legal requirements including GDPR, Employment law, Weights and Measures, Health and Safety, alcohol licensing (this list is not exhaustive)
* Maintain accurate records and documentation as required by law
* Attend any Health and Safety training when required
* Ensure full compliance with all areas of Health and Safety as per company Health and Safety policy at all times
* Ensure full compliance with Food Hygiene Regulations at all times
* Participate in health and safety inspections and audits, taking corrective action as needed.
