Job Title
Energy Advisor (fixed‑term, up to 2 years) – Environment Agency.
Overview
This vacancy closes at the end of October. The role is part of the Energy & COMAH team, within the Energy and Manufacturing Industries Regulation Directorate.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert support and technical leadership through advice, guidance and training.
* Develop strategy for the energy sectors and produce the tools to regulate, support development and deliver environmental outcomes.
* Commission and manage external research projects where needed.
* Work with internal and external stakeholders such as Defra, DESNZ, internal operations teams, trade associations and other key industry players.
* Respond to incidents: be available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience of working in or regulating energy sectors, including combustion plants, waste incineration and refineries.
* Relevant technical and regulatory knowledge, and knowledge of control measures for emissions to air where relevant.
* Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures, and to encourage others to consider diversity issues in their work.
* Ability to build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, operators, partner regulators, government, trade bodies and academia.
* Work cooperatively as part of a team to achieve common goals.
* Capacity to communicate with stakeholders at all levels and adapt approach to different stakeholder groups.
