The Members’ Reserves Adviser sits within the Fine Wine Team, a matrix team that is responsible for delivering the Fine Wine Strategy for the business.
The Members’ Reserves Adviser is part of our soon-to-be launched Fine Wine Service and operates under the direction of the Head of Fine Wine, alongside Member Services, the Fine Wine Advisers, Buying & Merchandising, Wine Operations, and the wider business to deliver an exceptional service to Members.
This is a Permanent Full Time position based here at our offices in Stevenage with some hybrid working available.
Job Purpose
The Members’ Reserves Adviser is responsible for the day-to-day management and development of our Members’ Reserves service, supporting members who store their wines with us.
This role combines high-touch member engagement with detailed operational and administrative responsibility, ensuring members’ collections are expertly managed, accurately catalogued, and optimised for maximum enjoyment and drinking pleasure. They are also responsible for coordinating the logistics around inbound fine wine stock, specifically cataloguing inbound private cellars and fine wine collections.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Member Advisory & Relationship Management:
- Act as a primary point of contact for members using our Reserves service, delivering a professional, discreet and personalised experience.
- Monitor members’ cellars and advise on drinking windows, maturity, and optimal timing for consumption.
- Provide one-to-one wine advice where appropriate, tailored to individual member preferences, collection profiles, and objectives.
- Proactively identify opportunities to add value for members through strategic drinking and cellar optimisation.
This role owns the Members’ Reserves P&L, ensuring that our wine storage offering is best-in-class.
Ensure all cellar data is up to date, compliant, and presented to the highest standard.
Maintain meticulous records relating to provenance, storage, condition, and movement of stock.
The Members’ Reserves Adviser will also be responsible for overseeing the accurate cataloguing of inbound fine wine collections (purchased from private individuals or something similar, just to distinguish from normal inbound purchases) destined for resale, coordinating the logistics and photography of said collections as well as playing an integral role in getting these wines marketed.
Lead the ongoing development and refinement of the Members’ Reserves offering.
Assist Member Services with estate planning and probate – end to end management of the buybacks the Society currently offers on an ad-hoc basis.
Provide cover and support for colleagues within the fine wine team during peak trading periods/holidays to ensure continuity of delivery.
Must have WSET Level 3 or above
