You are a Registered Nurse (level 1) with excellent communication and leadership skills, with a proven interest in diabetes and diabetes care. This vacancy is for you.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Diabetes Specialist Nurse (DSN) to join the multidisciplinary Diabetes Team at Scarborough Hospital.
The post holder will be required to support the multidisciplinary diabetes team in the management of people with diabetes, taking a lead in the Ante-natal diabetes service and young adult diabetes service. There is emphasis on patient empowerment for self-efficacy in long-term condition management; the post holder will require excellent interpersonal skills, be able to motivate and lead others, and act as an effective role model. Flexibility, creativity and adaptability are key attributes.

Responsibilities and requirements
Candidates will be expected to demonstrate knowledge and awareness of current clinical and professional issues affecting people with diabetes, incorporating high-quality evidence in patient-centred care. They will also demonstrate competency in teaching (patients and healthcare professionals), supervision of team members and sharing good practice. Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams is essential, while a post-registration qualification in diabetes would be ideal.
