Job Purpose The BI Lead will be responsible for shaping and maintaining the Enterprise BI and Data warehouse estate. You'll be working with both on-prem and cloud technologies, predominantly focussed on the Microsoft stack (SQL/Azure SQL databases, Data Factory, Synapse, Power BI, Power Platform) You will play a critical role in designing, developing, implementing and maintaining robust data solutions on the Azure and Power BI platforms. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, understand business objectives, and translate them into scalable and efficient data pipelines and reporting suites. Your expertise will be instrumental in establishing best practices and guiding the development of our data infrastructure to support our long-term data strategy. In addition, the role will be pivotal to understanding the direction of the Data and BI platform and technologies going forward, to give Vaultex cutting edge in the industry. Furthermore, the role will be responsible for the BI employees within the team from a management and performance perspective. The BI Lead will oversee and drive the teams deliveries, along with ensuring a high level of stability and service to the business from the Data and BI services. Main responsibilities: Developing quality Business Intelligence software solutions Planning, design and documentation Supporting solutions in production Maintaining SDLC & CI/CD solutions to support continuous delivery of software through development, test and production environments Spearhead engagement between business stakeholders and the BI function Line Management of the BI team members Personal development (new technologies, performance management) Knowledge, skills and experience required: Responsible for the design & implementation of technical delivery for the BI team Collaborate with Enterprise/Solution Architects to ensure data solutions are delivered to the appropriate standards and quality Lead the data team working with our vendor partners as appropriate, ensuring work is planned and prioritised accordingly Design, build, and optimize data pipelines and ETL processes on the Azure platform, ensuring data quality, reliability, and scalability Design, implement and maintain a variety of Power BI reports and models in line with business needs Guide and facilitate BI Analyst/BI Developer roles to gather requirements and translate into technical solutions Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements, translate into technical specifications and communicate delivery timelines Develop and maintain data models, data architectures, and data dictionaries to support efficient data storage and retrieval Implement data governance and security measures to ensure compliance as agreed with data architecture Monitor and optimise data workflows and processes to improve performance, reliability, and efficiency Identify and evaluate new technologies, tools, and frameworks to enhance data infrastructure and drive innovation Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data strategy, contribute to the development of data roadmaps, and drive data-driven decision making across the organisation Stay up to date with the latest trends, advancements, and best practices in BI, data engineering and cloud technologies, particularly within the Azure ecosystem Provide third line support on our production systems, in collaboration with our vendor partners Expand the usage of Power BI for internal and external stakeholders as a leading solution for data visualisation/reporting Management of people with the BI team, including performance, pastoral, training and coaching Technical Skills: Strong experience of Azure services such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Synapse Analytics, Logic Apps Strong SQL programming skills Strong experience with Power BI data modelling and reporting, including setting up/maintaining Power BI premium capacity workspaces tailored to business needs/security requirements Proficient in designing and building data pipelines using ETL/ELT frameworks, data integration tools, and technologies, inclusive of legacy technologies such as SSIS and SSAS Experience with data modelling, schema design, and data warehousing concepts Experience in unit testing, producing and reviewing clean/maintainable code and other software engineering best practices.
