Job summary
We are seeking a suitably qualified Pacing Cardiac Physiologist to join our friendly service. The successful applicant will possess highly specialized skills in Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) and will be able to lead/manage an area within the department (depending on service requirements).
The successful applicant is required to have a minimum of two years' experience as a Senior Cardiac Physiologist Band 6. Experience of cardiac catheterization (diagnostic), permanent pacemaker implants, physiologist led Exercise tolerance tests and Holter analysis is essential.
BSc Healthcare Science or BSc (Hons) Clinical Physiology level, or equivalent for this post is essential.
Main duties of the job
1. To take a lead in maintaining high professional standards of technical competency in the provision of all invasive and non-invasive cardiac investigations, actively participating in the day-to-day delivery of the pacing service and Implantable Devices Service at Walsall Manor Hospital, in co-operation with the Cardiologists and Head of Technical Services, Cardiology.
2. Perform a wide range of non-invasive Cardiac investigations, for example ECGs, BP, Holter Monitoring, Exercise Tolerance Testing, Device downloads and device re-programming.
3. To provide highly specialist technical support during pacemaker implantation, generator replacement, pacemaker lead extraction and associated procedures.
4. To work autonomously in single and dual chamber pacemaker and implantable loop recorder follow up checks, documenting results and accounting for programming changes and making decisions about further diagnostic investigation or intervention as required.
5. To communicate with patients and partners before and after device implantation to explain the implications /limitations of therapy, and complications.
6. To be responsible for ICD follow up / implantation and troubleshooting.
