Financial planner

A well-regarded IFA is looking for a Financial Planner in Manchester, including those earlier in their adviser career, to build a client book through an established accountancy referral network across the North of England. The role of Financial Planner is Manchester-based and mostly home-based, with no line management and the freedom to run your own diary. It comes with a strong package: £42,500 basic (basic plus retention bonus), Y1 OTE around £50,000, a £3,600 tax-free annual bonus, Vitality private healthcare and EV salary sacrifice.

About the firm:

This is a well-regarded independent financial planning firm with around 40 advisers across multiple offices and close to £1 billion in client assets. What sets it apart is what isn't there: no line management structure, no daily check-ins, and no fixed expectation of office attendance. The incoming Financial Planner is trusted to run their own diary, build their own book, and work mostly from home, with the option of the firm's Manchester office or any of its other North of England offices if that suits better. The business is growing fast, adding 40 new accountancy referral partners this year, so there's a clear pipeline of warm introductions to build from.

The role:

As Financial Planner, you'll build and run your own client book, supported by an established referral network and a central research team. This is a referral-led, relationship-driven role with real autonomy.

• Building referral relationships with accountants and solicitors
• Running client meetings across pensions, investments and protection
• Conducting ongoing client reviews as your book develops
• Personalising suitability reports drafted by the central research team

What you'll need:

• Around 1 year IFA experience, restricted backgrounds welcome
• Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning plus CAS
• Strong instincts for relationship-building, this is a referral-led model
• Self-motivation, there's no daily oversight and that doesn't suit everyone

The package:

• £42,500 basic (basic plus retention bonus), Y1 OTE around £50,000
• £3,600 tax-free annual bonus after probation (c.£5,000 gross equivalent)
• Top performers earn £150,000–£200,000 as their client bank matures
• 26 days' effective holiday
• 5% employer / 3% employee pension
• Vitality private healthcare
• EV salary sacrifice
• Death-in-service cover
• 3–4 days from home, or office-based at the Manchester office or any North of England office if preferred
