We currently have a great opportunity for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our Waste Team at Oxford Waste Treatment Works. This is a fantastic opportunity for an electrical maintenance technician to join a close-knit team which varies in age and ability, all performing at a high level. This role offers great learning potential with the ability to cross-skill into other disciplines.
As the successful candidate, your role will be to ensure that all equipment at our waste treatment works is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods.
What you'll be doing as an Electrical Maintenance Technician
1. Proactively and reactively maintain the electrical assets onsite at the Oxford site.
2. Investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
3. Carrying out service and replacement of assets: Pump motors, electrical circuitry components, contactors, overloads, slip ring assemblies, telemetry outstations, variable speed drives and motor control circuits.
4. Supporting the local maintenance teams, carrying out planned and breakdown maintenance activities on electromechanical wastewater assets.
5. Provided technical advice to the wider team, referred to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provided training or support for technical trainees if required.
6. Undertake fault diagnostics and resolve issues promptly.
7. Interpret and update Electrical drawings.
8. Timely feedback on work carried out daily.
9. Monitor treatment processes using the SCADA system and act on alarms as required.
Base Location: Oxford – OX4 4XU
Working Pattern or hours: 38 hours Monday-Friday, plus the inclusion of an out-of-hours Rota for which you will receive additional payment.
All PPE, Tools Plus and Van will be provided.
What you should bring to the role
10. Have considerable experience in electrical systems. A time-served apprenticeship in the engineering sector, NVQ level 3 or greater in electrical engineering.
11. You will have qualifications in BS7671 or 18th edition electrical wiring regulations. Experience in maintaining, testing, installing and fault diagnosis on electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently.
12. Experience with 3-phased systems.
13. Knowledge and awareness of health and safety policies and processes are essential.
14. The work will require physical fitness as you will work in confined spaces, with the successful completion of the appropriate training.
15. Participation in a 24/7 out-of-hours standby rota will be required after a suitable period of training and assessment, for which you will receive additional payment.
16. A full UK driving licence is essential.
17. You will need to undertake role-specific training to fulfil any safety and team competency requirements.
