Blackdown Nursing Home pride ourselves in offering a highly professional clean environment for the elderly, We are looking for staff 16 years and above to give attention to small details, You will be working for Golfhill LTD which is a very supportive company.

Purpose Of Position

* To clean all areas of the home on a regular basis, as directed, to ensure that a hygienic and safe environment may be maintained for the clients.
* To share with other staff in meeting the cleaning requirements of the home's clients in such a way that respects the privacy and dignity of the individual and promotes their independence where possible.

Principle Responsibilities

· Clean with materials provided and tidy all the clients' rooms on a regular basis, ensuring that the client's privacy and dignity are respected.

· Assist with the emotional care of the clients by communicating with them in a caring manner whilst going about your duties

· To hoover designated areas.

· Assist clients with the care of their flowers and plants.

· Any problems the clients may have should be reported to the Manager / Nurse in Charge.

· Allow and assist the clients to perform any of these tasks themselves if they should wish to do so.

. Ensure toilets, bathrooms and sinks are kept safe, clean and as hygienic as possible.

· Woodwork / paintwork and floors to be washed regularly.

· Clean and tidy all communal areas including kitchen area without disturbing the enjoyment of the clients using the facilities. (N.B. Night staff should also assist in the cleaning of these areas).

· To follow the spring cleaning routine.

· Any dangers found or maintenance requirements should be reported to the Manager / Nurse in charge/ Maintenance person immediately. All dangers and hazards reported will then be identified with a risk assessment and then treated with an appropriate course of action.

· Answer the front door and answer the telephone appropriately as and when required.

· To be committed to Health and Safety at work and operate a "safe system of work".

· Always wear appropriate protective clothing i.e. overalls and gloves supplied by the home. Care should be taken in the appropriate use of chemicals and their relative strengths. If not sure, read manufacturers recommendations. Chemicals that may cause danger to the clients should not be left around the home, or inappropriately decentered unless properly re-labelled. Care should also be taken to ensure that substances are safe where contact with food surfaces is possible. Hazardous substances should be locked away to prevent misuse.

· All equipment should be appropriately maintained regularly. Empty vacuum cleaners regularly and use the correct dust collection system. Any faults should be reported to the Manager / Nurse in charge /Maintenance person.

· Ensure that the equipment does not represent a hazard to the clients or other staff at any time, such as trailing of leads and the blocking of entrances etc.

· To be prepared to undertake training from time to time as may be deemed necessary by management. Care Home Regulations also stipulate that all staff should undertake certain training from time to time and achieve a level of qualification. This may also mean attendance to a local college.

· To be aware of the Fire Safety Procedure of the home. Make reference to the Home's Policies and Procedures Manual. (You are required by law and your contract to attend a minimum of one Fire Safety lecture each year). In the event of an emergency dial 999 to request assistance. This should not be delayed. Report to the Manager / Nurse in Charge if possible.

· All the Home's Policies and Procedure must be adhered to at all times. (Refer to the Home's Policies and Procedures Handbook, Heath and Safety Handbook and Employee Handbook).

· To assist the other staff if needed, i.e. in an emergency.

· Such other duties that may be required.

· All staff are requested to respect the confidentiality of all matters that they might learn in the course of their employment. All staff are expected to respect the requirements under the Data Protection Act 1998.

Pay: From £12.50 per hour
