Job Overview
The Decontamination Technician is responsible for the collection, decontamination (manual cleaning, disinfection, sterilisation), and distribution of re-usable medical devices, including flexible endoscopes, for patient care.
Work collaboratively with theatres, wards, and departments to provide a responsive, efficient service prioritising patient safety and staff safety at all times.
Main Duties
* Complete onsite training across all decontamination areas.
* Use keyboards, touch screens, and scanners.
* Maintain high manual dexterity, accuracy, and speed.
* Manually handle instruments, sets, and stock, and push/manoeuvre trolleys.
* Work standing for prolonged periods.
* Operate PC, scanners, and label printers for traceability systems.
* Develop extensive knowledge of medical devices.
* Use initiative for routine and non-routine tasks.

Detailed Job Responsibilities

Person Specification
Essential criteria include literacy in English, GCSE-level education or equivalent, understanding of hygiene, experience in demanding environments, manual handling ability, good communication skills, teamwork, and physical fitness.
