The Department of Trauma & Orthopaedics at the Princess Royal University Hospital, a division of Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, is looking for enthusiastic and committed Trauma & Orthopaedic Upper Limb Surgeon with a specialist interest in shoulder and elbow surgery.
The appointed Locum Trauma & Orthopaedic surgeon will join a join a friendly and supportive team of 12 Consultants and 3 Associate Specialists that works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary teams at the Princess Royal University Hospital and Denmark Hill. There may also be opportunities for cross-site working between Denmark Hill site and the South sites, subject to agreement and needs. The team is currently supported by 12 Specialist Registrars/ Senior Clinical Fellows (Reg level); 16 Junior Clinical Fellows/ Core Surgical Trainees/ MTI and cover both the PRUH and Orpington sites; a Specialist Nurse for Trauma and a Specialist Nurse for Hip Fractures., The post holder will support existing hip and knee services within the orthopaedic department but will also be expected to develop the unit. There will be a commitment to providing the full range of elective hip and knee services to the surrounding region encompassing south-east London and Kent. The hip and knee department is a highly respected unit with a large research output and the post holder is expected to have a strong academic background and to be able to contribute to the research output and growth of the unit. A multi-disciplinary approach is applied to the management of a wide range of conditions including lower limb trauma. Fragility fractures of the lower limb represent a significant amount of the trauma workload and there is a requirement for the post holder to be actively involved in the management of complex lower limb trauma in this cohort of elderly patients.
