Overview

Job title: Breeze Event Officer

Salary:£28,598 – £31,022 (C1)

Hours: 37 per week, over a 7-day week including some weekends and unsociable hours

Contract: Permanent

Location: Leeds City Centre

We are excited to announce an opportunity to join the Breeze Team as a permanent Event Officer. You will assist with the production, management and delivery of family-friendly events throughout the year, liaising closely with Senior Management to deliver high-quality events safely on time and within budget. You will demonstrate practical skills and experience in event setup and derig, as well as managing logistics. You will supervise casual staff and other trades in pre-event setup.

The work is varied and can be high-pressure at key times of the year, including outdoor settings in all weathers. Ideally, you will have understanding and experience of working in a commercial setting.

About You

As an Event Officer for the Breeze Team you will bring to the role:

* Ability to work to and implement event action plans and schedules.
* Knowledge and understanding of working to risk assessments and safe operating procedures.
* Experience of driving a range of vehicles.
* Experience of working on various elements of large-scale events.
* An ability to problem solve and work creatively to maintain the delivery of the event.
* Educated to A level or equivalent or professional vocational qualifications within the events industry (or a relevant subject/area).
* Enjoy working outdoors and under pressure in all weathers.


The Role

The role is integral to the Breeze team within the Arts, Events & Venues service which organises and manages a diverse programme of events across the city throughout the year. You’ll need a strong passion for events, the ability to solve problems creatively, and to deliver practical solutions. You will work to tight schedules and deadlines, collaborating across a wide range of staff, contractors, stakeholders and clients. The successful candidate will be able to work flexibly and calmly under pressure, prioritise work programmes and meet deadlines.

This role is based in the UK. Job Description

Job Purpose: To assist with the production, management and delivery of family-friendly events throughout the year, liaising closely with the Senior Management to deliver high-quality events safely on time and within budget.


Responsibilities For Grade

* To assist Senior Officers with the detailed organisation of projects, events and activities.
* To assist in the management of projects and activities.
* To lead on the storage, auditing and upkeep of the team’s equipment and storage areas.
* To assist with the development of new events.
* To play a full role in the delivery of events as required.
* To always have due regard for Health, Safety and Welfare at events.
* To be responsible for the supervision of contractors on site as directed by the Events Manager.
* To assist with the management, planning, and production requirements.
* To assist with the co-ordination of major activities across the service, offering advice and supporting plans.
* To undertake the accountabilities of the post in accordance with Council policies including Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety.
* To undertake any other duties commensurate with the role and grade of the post.
* To work responsibly and flexibly to deliver workloads within approved budgets, to defined timescales and achieving the required quality.
* Continuing your own personal and professional development, as required for the role.


Qualifications

Educated to A level or equivalent or professional vocational qualifications within the events industry (or a relevant subject / area).


Personal Specification

Method of Assessment will be through one or more of the following: Application Form, Test, Interview, and Certificate. Essential requirements: It is essential that the candidate demonstrates the criteria for the post within the context of the role duties and responsibilities. Shortlisting will occur if all essential requirements are met.


Skills

* Ability to identify and respond to challenging situations, maintaining strong communication and clear decision making.
* Ability to use basic IT packages to maintain records and update Risk assessments/SOPs.
* Ability to communicate with a wide range of people.
* Ability to work to tight deadlines.
* Ability to motivate others working in teams.
* Ability to work practically and flexibly indoors and outdoors.
* Ability to manage competing priorities whilst supporting a range of projects and adapting to changing circumstances.


Knowledge

* A good understanding of the guide to Health and Safety at outdoor events.
* Basic knowledge of lighting, sound, and power systems.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
* Good understanding of Risk Assessments, Method statements/Standard Operating Procedures.


Experience

* Working in the events industry or project-based work.
* Planning, organising and delivering events or projects.
* Working on outdoor projects or events.
* Working in teams to deliver an event.
* Liaising with external organisations and contractors to deliver the event.
* Managing risk in relation to a project or work area.

* Additional event industry related qualifications.
