Lancashire Virtual School is one of the largest Virtual Schools in the country. We work to promote the education, attainment, progress and aspirations of children who are looked after (CLA) by Lancashire County Council. We work alongside colleagues in schools, alternative settings, Education Improvement and Children's Social Care, to advocate for these learners. We are committed to ensuring that all our learners are safe, healthy and supported to achieve. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated Education Consultant to work alongside 10 other consultants, deputy headteacher, Employment Support Team and headteacher to support the education of some of the county's most vulnerable learners. This post is available due to the retirement of a well-respected colleague. We are looking for someone who understands education and / or social care of children who are looked-after and has a passion for making a difference to them. The ideal candidate will either have had a teaching role or pastoral role in a school or a role in early help, family services or children's social care and will have experience of multi-agency collaboration to drive progress for children and young people. They will also have an understanding of the legislation, policy and guidelines that underpin the work of Virtual Schools. An understanding of the challenges faced by children who have additional needs would be a distinct advantage, as would the ability to professionally challenge when necessary. Alongside this, good interpersonal skills and computer competency will be needed. Our out-of-county children are based all over the country so a large amount of this work can be undertaken online but candidates should be aware that some regional travel is expected, and meetings will take place in-person and online. Therefore, this is an essential car user post (unless, because of a disability, you are unable to drive).
