Job Overview

Term-time Only, Permanent Role (0.8527 FTE)

SFCA Support Staff pay spine points 10 – 12 (£26,666 – £28,408) per annum, (£22,738.10 - £24,223.50 pro-rata)

The College is looking to appoint an organised and enthusiastic Science Technician – Chemistry. The post holder will work as part of a team to deliver practical equipment and materials for the chemistry department, enabling staff and students to carry out practical work efficiently, accurately, and safely.

The ideal candidate will prepare materials for practical classes, demonstrations, and examinations, ensuring all chemicals are accurately labelled and ready for use. You will monitor stock levels regularly, completing internal requisitions to maintain adequate supplies. Additionally, you will receive and inspect new deliveries to ensure materials arrive in good condition.

This role will ensure the safe custody of equipment and consumables within the science faculty, identify equipment for maintenance and repair, source materials that are not readily available or require special handling, and purchase goods from external sources while minimizing expenditure to the college.
