We are seeking a highly skilled API Integration Engineer to join our technology team. This hybrid role is pivotal in ensuring seamless, secure, and scalable integration across internal platforms, external suppliers, and customer-facing services. You will also lead the development of automated data pipelines that enhance operational efficiency and unlock actionable insights.
This position is central to our telecom ecosystem, with a strong focus on Open APIs, OSS/BSS systems, and enterprise-grade automation. You’ll collaborate across architecture, DevOps, and data teams to deliver resilient, compliant, and high-performing solutions that align with NEOS Networks’ strategic vision.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, build, and maintain API integrations for telecom OSS/BSS systems, Openreach APIs, supplier platforms, and enterprise applications.
* Develop and automate ETL/ELT data pipelines to improve data flow, quality, and consistency across the organisation.
* Implement secure communication protocols including OAuth 2.0, mTLS, IP whitelisting, and ensure compliance with GDPR, TSA, and ISO27001.
* Build and manage webhook endpoints for asynchronous callbacks and participate in BT Openreach Conformance Testing.
* Manage API version upgrades and partner change notifications.
* Apply robust fault handling, retry logic, and back-off strategies for resilient API operations.
* Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, Azure DevOps, and Jenkins for API and data workflow deployments.
* Monitor and troubleshoot integrations using ELK, Grafana, CloudWatch, and other observability tools.
* Document integration designs, data workflows, and support processes for operational continuity and audit readiness.
* Collaborate with architects, analysts, developers, and vendors to deliver solutions aligned with business goals.
Strategic & Cross-Functional Engagement
* Work closely with the Chief Enterprise & Security Officer and enterprise architects to co-develop a five-year, API-first roadmap for intelligent, context-aware systems.
* Provide technical leadership and guidance on modern API technologies and architectures that support NEOS Networks’ strategic direction.
* Continuously evaluate market trends to identify complementary technology partners and strengthen infrastructure.
Required Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in API integration engineering, preferably within telecom environments.
* Hands-on experience with Openreach APIs or similar B2B telecom integrations.
* Strong understanding of REST, SOAP, and event-driven architectures.
* Proficiency in XML, JSON, schema validation (WSDL, XSD), and scripting (Python/SQL).
* Experience with message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS) and event-driven platforms (Amazon EventBridge).
* Skilled in cloud environments (AWS, Azure), container orchestration, and middleware platforms (API Gateway, Informatica, Airflow, Snowflake).
* Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps toolchains (GitLab, Azure DevOps, Jenkins).
* Deep understanding of secure API/data practices and regulatory frameworks (GDPR, TSA, ISO27001).
* Telecoms background with exposure to OSS/BSS integration.
* Familiarity with Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS) or similar platforms.
* Experience supporting AI/ML pipelines and automation in data-driven environments.
