Overview
Digital Designer (AI & Retouching) – We’re looking for a Designer with a passion for AI, a sharp eye for detail, and exceptional retouching skills to join our design team. You’ll be part of a group pushing boundaries in how AI and design come together, working on image-heavy projects at scale across a range of accounts. This role blends creativity, precision, and experimentation; you should enjoy iteration and process as much as aesthetics, thriving in detail and maintaining high standards even when the pace is fast and the volume is high. You’ll collaborate with a talented, supportive team that values curiosity and technical mastery, and have the opportunity to grow AI skills within design workflows.
Location: London, United Kingdom
Responsibilities
* Create and enhance imagery using a range of AI tools, including eight&four’s proprietary tools, adapting quickly as new technologies emerge
* Serve as a pro-level retoucher, delivering premium-quality visuals for multiple clients
* Art direct and prompt AI imagery, shaping composition through props, tone, and lighting
* Maintain high standards across large volumes of assets, keeping file management organized and workflows efficient
* Collaborate with creatives and technologists to solve problems, find smart workarounds, and continuously improve processes
* Share knowledge and help upskill the wider team in retouching and AI best practice
* Work across diverse brands, balancing craft and innovation
Requirements
* Experience in a creative or digital agency environment, accustomed to working at pace and volume
* Deep expertise in retouching (Photoshop proficiency essential)
* Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite with strong technical understanding of image editing, compositing, and colour management
* Strong understanding of photography, lighting, and composition
* Curiosity and confidence using AI image tools (Midjourney, Firefly, DALL·E, Runway, etc.)
* A genuine passion for photography and storytelling through visuals
* Process-led, detail-obsessed mindset with pride in precision
* Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability
* Not precious; comfortable with repetition, multiple versions, and ongoing refinements
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross-disciplinary teams
