We’re seeking an innovative, forward-thinking Band 3 member to join our specialist dementia assessment team at Angelton Clinic Glanrhyd Hospital. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a specialist multi-disciplinary team delivering high-quality, compassionate and person-centred care to patients experiencing complex cognitive and behavioural needs. Our ward provides short-term, holistic assessment for individuals with dementia whose needs cannot be met in other settings. Main duties of the job

To support the provision of health care to people experiencing mental ill health in an Older Persons Mental Health in-patient setting. The post holder will deliver specific components of the patient’s care plan as delegated by the registered nurse and will regularly be required to work without direct supervision. Supervise junior members of staff providing advice and guidance. Work within a multidisciplinary team under the direction of a registered nurse. Deliver health care within the Care & Treatment Plan Approach. Provide support to patients on an individual and group basis within the inpatient service. With support from Registered Nurses be responsible for and manage own workload and safety. Participate in supervision from Registered Nurses. Actively participate in continuing professional development through the Knowledge Skills Framework.

The Health Board currently operate a number of different shift systems. The most common are a 12.5 hour shift, inclusive of either one 30 minute or two 30-minute unpaid breaks. These shift patterns are subject to review and the Health Board reserves the right to change working arrangements. CTM is a Health Board committed to meaningful consultation with staff and to making balanced decisions that consider all aspects of our service and workforce.

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn’t need to have skills in Welsh, we’ll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t fluency, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. Person Specification


Education/Qualifications / Training

* A good standard of general education including literacy and numeracy skills. Must possess NVQ level 3 or equivalent level of competency assessed training.


Experience

* Relevant experience of working in an older persons with mental health problems.
* Experience of working within Older Persons Mental Health Settings


Skills

* Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work on own initiative. Ability to work as part of a Team. Ability to keep calm in stressful situations. Ability to demonstrate a person-centred approach. Must be able to undertake Formal adapted Restrictive Physical Intervention Training with annual updates and Patient Handling Training
* IT Skills.
* Welsh language speaking/listening skills at Level 3 or above


Knowledge

* Understanding and appreciation of Mental Health issues. An understanding of the need to maintain professional boundaries.
