We are recruiting on behalf of a global financial services client who are looking to appoint a qualified In house solicitor to their Belfast office. You will work as a senior legal manager within a team of accomplished lawyers, adding value to their core client services. Within this role, you will have a fantastic opportunity to liaise with key clients including managers of hedge funds within global financial services companies and tier one investment banking markets. The team offer extensive in house legal consulting and advisory experience and most lawyers are considered subject matter experts within their specialisms. Together with the people capabilities, the in house team also enjoy access and use of ground breaking legal technology tools to deliver services to their clients that you will not be exposed to in private practice.
Your new role
As an In house solicitor, you'll proactively assist in the management of a portfolio of high value clients. Your non legal functions will include the financial management of clients and business development activities relating to both new and existing clients.
Additionally, you'll manage and deliver large projects by developing the project team and constantly assess the client’s risk framework with one eye on continuous process improvement.
Negotiating and amending commercial and financial contracts will be a specific strength of yours and you will ideally (but not essential) have some experience working with derivatives and their accompanying documentation & agreements. Knowledge of or previous experience in the Managed Legal Services or In-House industries would be advantageous and looked on favourably (but is not mandatory).
What you need to succeed?
1. A Qualified lawyer / solicitor with experience preferably gained within a commercial or corporate firm preferably with a seat in banking or finance.
2. Any experience with derivatives and documentation agreements is considered highly desirable but not essential.
3. Strong exposure to commercial contracts coupled with an excellent technical drafting ability to compliment your eye for detail.
4. It is likely if you are 3-8 years PQE that you have strong communication and organisational skills as well as a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and ensure that deadlines are consistently met.
5. Although we are looking for a senior In House solicitor, we also have scope to consider a NQ solicitor with a seat in banking or finance or with derivatives background and a mid level 2-4 year PQE solicitor with some financial, commercial or banking backgrounds.
