The Harbour/College House residential home and outreach service supports children and young people who have experienced significant trauma and neglect. College House is a home in Weymouth. The role aims to provide a safe, nurturing environment in which children and young people can thrive, develop self-reliance, and reach their potential. The role may involve some evening and weekend work, including sleep-ins for which there is an allowance and bank holidays. Dorset Council is a flexible employer and would welcome discussions around a variety of mutually agreeable hours.
About The Harbour
At the Harbour, we never give up. Our service wraps around a child’s needs, with an evidence-informed approach to risk and a supportive working environment. We operate a multi-agency integrated model via colocated teams, sharing learning and tasks. We are committed to helping children through decisive and collaborative actions.
What You Will Be Doing
You will be passionate and aspirational in supporting young people through a variety of activities that help you build strong, resilient relationships. Activities include introducing children and young people to new environments, sports, arts and leisure, supporting them in education, training and employment, and promoting a clean, safe, nurturing home environment to develop skills for independence.
You will form positive relationships with children, young people and families, and work with families, partner agencies and allocated social workers to identify and achieve the best outcomes. You will work to mend relationships and reunify families when appropriate. You will be aspirational, flexible, and able to work autonomously and as part of a team to respond to dynamic situations. We are aspirational for our staff as well as our children.
