Location: Cambridge, UK - Hybrid (at least 2-3 days per week in the office)
Contract: Fixed-Term (12 months)
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week
We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and learning and assessment organisation, and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.
We are looking for an experienced legal operations professional to play a key role in the delivery of our legal operations plan.
This is an opportunity for you to join the legal operations team within the Legal & Business Affairs (L&BA) department. L&BA empowers the business to make effective and ethical choices and is enthusiastic about operational excellence and continuous improvement.
We actively seeking new team members who share our passion and our values: collaborative, innovative, empowering and responsible.

About The Role

The role will involve leading on and contributing to a variety of key projects which form part of the wider legal operations plan. You will work closely with L&BA staff on tech implementation projects as well as initiatives to enhance and improve: processes; system functionality; and user adoption.

In this role, you will report to the Director of Legal Operations. You will be a key contributor to legal tech and process improvement projects as well as leading initiatives autonomously.

Additional responsibilities and accountabilities include:

* Additions and enhancements to our Contract Lifecycle Management system (Ironclad)
* Additions and enhancements to our Matter Management system (Lawcadia)
* Additions and enhancements to our Document Management System (iManage)
* Implementation of AI based tools for drafting, queries and legal research

You will act as a subject matter expert within the wider department and develop strong working relationships with stakeholders within L&BA and in the wider business.

Key responsibilities will include:

* Working collaboratively within the Legal Operations team to deliver the legal operations plan
* Providing professional expertise and advice to the Legal function on legal technology and legal process best practice
* Managing a mix of projects contributing to the legal operations plan
* Attending and contributing to regular project and team meetings
* Designing new processes and implementing these via configuration changes within the systems
* Planning and undertaking testing of system enhancements and managing fixes/work arounds
* Planning and undertaking user training

This position has been classified as a hybrid role, requiring the selected candidate to typically spend 40-60% of their time collaborating and connecting face-to-face at their dedicated location. Aside from our hybrid principles, other flexible working requests will be considered from the first day of employment, including other work arrangements should you require adjustments due to a disability or long-term health condition.

About You

We don't mind whether you have gained your experience in-house, at a law firm or with a legal technology vendor. While we may give an indication of desired experience in relevant roles as a guide, we're also keen to hear about different experience which would make you a strong addition to our team. You're curious to learn (we are an education and research publishing organisation after all), and a perfect mix of self-starter and team player.

If you meet the above minimum requirements, we encourage you to apply. Your application will be even stronger if you can also demonstrate the following desirable criteria:

* Along with sound legal operations skills, you will communicate effectively, providing expert guidance at a time and in a way that enables delivery of departmental objectives.
* Whatever you are working on, you will be able to deliver your own initiatives and projects in a way that inspires confidence, as well as working collaboratively with others in the team and the wider organisation.
* Your success will be underpinned by your ability to prioritise, with a practical and pragmatic approach to delivery of legal operations projects.
