This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key part in shaping practical teaching across a diverse range of species in our well‑resourced Animal Management Centre. As a Practical Instructor, you’ll deliver hands‑on sessions, demonstrate industry‑standard techniques, support student progress, and help create a professional, engaging learning environment. You’ll work closely with lecturers and our technical team, ensuring learners develop the core practical competencies needed for further study or employment in the animal care sector. About the Role As our new Practical Instructor, you will: · Delivering practical sessions across small mammals, exotics, companion animals and livestock.· Planning and preparing your sessions to meet curriculum outcomes.· Demonstrating safe, effective animal handling and husbandry techniques.· Assessing practical competence and providing supportive developmental feedback.· Tracking learner progress, setting targets and helping students reach their potential.· Preparing materials and resources for practical teaching.· Working collaboratively with the technical team to ensure sessions run smoothly (without undertaking routine husbandry).· Promoting safe working practices and ensuring compliance with college procedures. What We’re Looking For You’ll need:· A Level 3 or higher qualification in Animal Management (or related discipline).· Strong practical skills and experience working with a range of species.· Experience delivering or demonstrating practical skills to groups.· Excellent communication, coaching and organisational skills.· A commitment to inclusive practice, high standards and continuous professional development.· Full driving licence and flexibility to support occasional events.
