We are seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Technician to provide expert technical support to a state-of-the-art engine test facility on our clients site in Peterborough. The successful candidate will join a team responsible for maintaining the mechanical plant to the highest standards, ensuring the quality of data output is consistently upheld.
This dynamic, hands-on role is crucial for keeping test cells operational. The team is responsible for the manufacture, implementation, and upgrade of test facility support systems, and the commissioning of a multi-million-pound test facility with world-class validation capabilities. You will interact with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team of peers, engineers, and external contractors.
Contract: 12-month contract
Pay Rate: £24.00 - £26.00 per hour
Working Hours: This is a full-time, on-site role working 37 hours per week. The position offers flexible working hours with a 9-day fortnight schedule. Team members can choose one of three staggered start/finish patterns to cover operational needs from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM:
* 6:00 AM - 2:45 PM
* 7:00 AM - 3:45 PM
* 7:30 AM - 4:15 PM
Please note that work during shutdowns, including weekends, may be required.
Responsibilities
* Responding to testbed and facility breakdowns, using effective fault-finding and problem-solving skills to conduct repairs.
* Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, repair, and installation of new and existing facility equipment.
* Performing servicing and maintenance on dynamometers, fuel systems, and coolant systems.
* Supporting plant utilities and boiler operations.
* Following documented standard work procedures using various hand tools, power tools, and lifting equipment.
* Leading improvement and root cause investigation projects, presenting findings to the wider team.
* Actively balancing your workload and priorities to meet business needs, with daily tasks set by a coordinator.
* Training and supporting apprentices and co-workers.
* Working to and modeling exemplary health and safety standards.
* Maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe work area in line with 5S and LEAN initiatives.
Desirable Skills and Experience
* Qualified to a minimum of NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience, such as having served a full engineering indentured apprenticeship or possessing 5 years of relevant industry experience.
* A thorough knowledge of maintenance processes, tools and machine shop operations.
* The ability to read and interpret mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical drawings and schematics.
* Experience with materials and a commitment to quality objectives.
* An inquisitive nature with strong problem-solving skills.
* A good work ethic, high standards, and the ability to complement the team.
* Background in fields such as pharmaceuticals or manufacturing, with experience in conveyor systems, compressor systems, and fault finding.
* Advanced fault finding and diagnostics on hydraulic or fuel systems.
