Data Centre Engineer / Critical Site Engineer (Electrical)

Overview An excellent opportunity for an Electrical Engineer / Maintenance Engineer to join a growing team in the data centre and critical infrastructure sector, one of the UK’s most secure and high-growth industries.

This role is ideal for engineers seeking a long-term career in mission-critical environments, working on high-value electrical systems where uptime and reliability are essential. You will benefit from structured training, clear career progression, and exposure to advanced electrical and critical power systems.

The Role As a Data Centre Engineer / Critical Site Engineer, you will maintain and support critical electrical infrastructure within a live data centre environment, including:

1. UPS systems (Uninterruptible Power Supply)
2. Standby generators
3. LV/HV electrical distribution systems
4. Switchgear and control systems
5. Building Management Systems (BMS)

You will work in a safety-critical, high-performance environment, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability.
Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Operations

6. Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
7. Maintain and fault-find critical electrical systems
8. Complete technical reports and maintain accurate documentation
9. Use CMMS systems for job tracking and compliance
10. Support 24/7 operations, including on-call rota participation
11. Respond to and escalate critical incidents effectively

Team & Contractor Management

12. Supervise subcontractors and ensure safe working practices
13. Assist with remedial works, upgrades, and small projects

Compliance & Safety

14. Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality (HSEQ) standards
15. Attend training, team meetings, and technical briefings

Requirements Essential

16. Level 2 & Level 3 Electrical Qualification (City & Guilds or equivalent)
17. 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
18. Experience in electrical maintenance (facilities, building services, or industrial environments)
19. Strong fault-finding and PPM knowledge
20. Good communication and teamwork skills

Desirable

21. Experience in data centres or critical environments
22. HVAP / LVAP Authorisation
23. Knowledge of UPS systems, generators, and critical power infrastructure
