The Board is responsible for delivering independent policing oversight in Northern Ireland. We are a non-departmental public body of the Department of Justice and have 19 Members, 10 of whom are nominated by the 5 main political parties and 9 Independent Members appointed by the Department of Justice.We were established on 4 November 2001 to ensure, for all the people of Northern Ireland, an effective, efficient, impartial, representative, and accountable police service which will secure the confidence of the whole community, by reducing crime and the fear of crime.What We DoThere is a significant and complex legislative framework which determines the responsibilities of the Board, both in respect of the PSNI and those directly applicable to the Board.The Board undertakes these duties by supporting the PSNI in securing the budget for policing and monitoring its expenditure, monitoring PSNI performance against the Policing Plan and key strategies, monitoring compliance with the Human Rights act, securing continuous improvement and monitoring the use of resources. The Board is also responsible for appointing PSNI Chief Officers and is the Pensions Administrator for the PSNI.How We Do ItWe deliver on our statutory duties through monthly meetings with the Chief Constable and a number of Committees that are tasked with scrutinising all aspects of the work of the PSNI and issues that fall within our legislative duties.Our work is supported by the Chief Executive who leads and manages a team of approximately 50 staff. We also have a number of volunteers who assist our oversight work.
Responsibilities
* Manage resources to support the work of the Branch
* Keep up to date with a broad set of issues relating to the work of the Branch
* Adhere to relevant policies, procedures, regulations and legislation specific to the work of the Branch
* Liaise with key stakeholders to progress the work of the Branch
* Prepare and issue agendas, related papers and minutes for meetings as required

Skills and Qualifications
* At least 2 years’ experience of effectively managing a team to deliver business objectives within a complex organisation
* At least 2 years’ experience of working in partnership with key stakeholders to contribute to the delivery of business objectives
* At least 2 years’ experience of gathering, analysing and communicating complex information effectively to a wide range of audiences
* At least 2 years’ experience of managing competing priorities to deliver business objectives
* In addition, applicants should be aware that after an eligibility sift, should it be necessary to shortlist candidates to go forward to interview, the following shortlisting criteria will be used:
* At least 1 years’ experience of working or engaging with multiple categories of stakeholders including MLAs, MPs, TDs, Councillors etc.
